Madeline Ballard, CNM | Women Obstetrics & Gynecology
Madeline Ballard, CNM
Madeline spent most of her childhood in Nolensville, Tennessee, where she grew up and- at one point- fully committed to life as a track star. She gave it a solid shot as an SEC athlete at the University of Tennessee before deciding that long jumping might not be her lifelong calling. After that realization, she transferred to Samford University, where she finished out her athletic career and graduated with honors in nursing. She then began her career as a labor and delivery nurse, quickly discovering she loved caring for women and their babies (and that this career path had much better longevity than long jump). Eventually, Madeline made her way back home to Nashville, where she worked as an L&D nurse at Saint Thomas Midtown. It was there that she decided to take things a step further and become a midwife. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, graduating summa cum laude in 2025. In her practice, Madeline is especially passionate about supporting people through pregnancy and delivery using physiologic birth principles and Spinning Babies® techniques. Madeline lives in Smyrna, Tennessee, with her husband and daughter. When she’s not catching babies, she enjoys being outdoors, going to concerts, and keeping her trivia skills sharp with a nightly episode of Jeopardy!, where she is undefeated from the comfort of her own couch.

Elizabeth Napier, WHNP | Women Obstetrics & Gynecology
Elizabeth Napier, WHNP
Lizzie is a Nashville native and board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner. Her passion for women’s health was sparked at age 13 when she started watching A Baby Story, a TV show about pregnancy and birth, every chance she got. While her parents were concerned and her brother still claims to be scarred for life from witnessing some of the births on the show, Lizzie knew that she was meant to help women someday. She started as a nurse’s aide in 2009 before earning her bachelor’s in nursing from Duke University in 2011. After working as a registered nurse for many years, she returned to Duke and earned her master’s in 2018. Her 10 years of experience in oncology inspired her to become certified in colposcopy, a diagnostic procedure for abnormal Pap smears. She has also completed extra training in weight management. Providing inclusive, personalized care for patients at Women is both a joy and a privilege for Lizzie, and she pinches herself every day that she landed her dream job. In her free time, you might find Lizzie doing yoga on her lunch break, traveling, or moonlighting as a Disney princess for her friends’ children’s birthday parties. She is very close with her family and has Sunday dinner with her parents, brother and sister-in-law, and niece every week. Fun fact: Lizzie was in an acappella group in college and still loves to sing and beatbox. If anyone would like to start a group, please let her know!
